The M48 Mauser was a Yugoslav bolt-action rifle based on the German Karabiner 98k. Chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser, it was developed after World War II and became the standard service rifle of the Yugoslav People's Army. The M48 was known for its robust construction and reliability in harsh conditions.

Adopted in 1948, the M48 was produced in several variants and saw use during the Cold War period. Although it was a bolt-action rifle in an era dominated by semi-automatic and automatic firearms, the M48 was favored for its accuracy and durability. It remained in service with Yugoslav forces into the 1990s.

Today, the M48 Mauser is prized by collectors for its craftsmanship and historical significance. It represents the last major bolt-action rifle design based on the Mauser system, which had been a dominant force in military rifle development for over half a century.
