The M24/47 Yugo Mauser is a post-World War II upgrade of the earlier M24 Mauser, produced by Yugoslavia at the Zastava Arms factory. The "24/47" designation refers to the original M24 rifle being refurbished in 1947, with improvements made to its barrel, stock, and action. Like its predecessor, it was chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser and was used by the Yugoslav military well into the 1950s. The M24/47 retained the Mauser 98 action, which was renowned for its strength and reliability, making it a favorite among collectors and military historians. These rifles were produced in smaller numbers compared to the original M24 but still served an important role in Yugoslavia's post-war military rebuild. Many surplus M24/47 rifles entered the civilian market in the U.S. and Europe, where they remain popular for hunting and sport shooting due to their accuracy and robust construction.
