The Finnish M39 Mosin-Nagant rifle is a refined version of the Russian Mosin-Nagant, developed to meet the needs of the Finnish Army during the interwar period. Introduced in 1939, the M39 features a heavier barrel, improved sights, and a sturdier stock made from Arctic birch, designed to withstand the harsh Finnish climate. Its design combines precision and durability, with a two-stage trigger and a full-length handguard providing better performance and ergonomics compared to earlier Mosin-Nagant variants.

Production of the M39 began in 1940, with over 100,000 units manufactured during its initial run by the Sako, Tikkakoski, and VKT factories. The rifle served as the standard-issue firearm for Finnish forces during the Winter War and the Continuation War against the Soviet Union. Despite limited industrial resources, Finnish gunsmiths prioritized quality, resulting in a rifle that earned a reputation for exceptional accuracy and reliability, particularly among marksmen and snipers.

The M39 is renowned for its role in Finland's effective defense against Soviet aggression, where its precision played a crucial role in the hands of skilled Finnish soldiers. It has since gained notoriety among military historians and collectors as one of the finest iterations of the Mosin-Nagant platform. Today, the M39 remains a testament to Finnish ingenuity, prized for its historical significance and exceptional craftsmanship.
