The Mle. 1892 Lebel revolver was developed in France and adopted by the French military in 1892. Chambered in 8mm, it was a robust, solid-frame revolver with a swing-out cylinder, a feature that facilitated faster reloading compared to earlier French revolvers. It was used widely by French officers and soldiers during World War I and beyond.

Despite its relatively small caliber, the Mle. 1892 was valued for its reliability and accuracy. Its robust construction allowed it to withstand the harsh conditions of trench warfare, and it remained in service throughout World War I and into World War II. Many revolvers were even issued to resistance fighters during the German occupation of France.

The Mle. 1892 Lebel holds historical significance as one of France's primary service revolvers during the first half of the 20th century. Though it was eventually replaced by semi-automatic pistols, it remains a notable piece of French military history and is a sought-after collector's item.
