The Suomi KP-31 was a Finnish submachine gun designed by Aimo Lahti and adopted by the Finnish Army in the 1930s. Chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, the Suomi KP-31 was renowned for its accuracy, high rate of fire, and excellent craftsmanship. It was one of the most effective submachine guns of World War II, known for its use in the Winter War and Continuation War between Finland and the Soviet Union.

The KP-31 was adopted by Finnish forces in 1931 and quickly became a favorite among soldiers due to its reliability in harsh winter conditions. The submachine gun featured a 71-round drum magazine, giving it significant firepower compared to many of its contemporaries. Finnish troops used the KP-31 to great effect against Soviet forces, particularly in the dense forests of Finland, where its rapid-fire capability proved invaluable in close-quarters combat.

After World War II, the Suomi KP-31 continued to serve in various conflicts and was exported to several countries. Its influence on later submachine guns, including the Soviet PPSh-41, is notable. The KP-31's performance and durability earned it a place in military history as one of the finest submachine guns ever produced.
