Encom MP45
| |||||||||||
The Encom MP45 is a .45 ACP version of the Encom MP9 submachine gun. Developed in the mid-1980s, the MP45 retained the same basic blowback design as its 9mm counterpart but was chambered in the larger .45 ACP caliber. This change increased its stopping power, making it more suitable for close-quarters combat, where a higher-caliber round was often favored.
Like the MP9, the MP45 was marketed primarily to civilian, law enforcement, and private security sectors. The larger caliber offered more firepower, but it also increased recoil, which could make the weapon harder to control during sustained fire. As a result, the MP45 did not gain widespread use among military forces, though it did find a niche market among enthusiasts who appreciated its robust stopping power.
Although the Encom MP45 never achieved the same level of fame as other submachine guns, it is still valued by collectors and shooting enthusiasts for its unique design and .45 caliber chambering. It remains a part of the submachine gun legacy, representing the adaptability of the original MP9 platform to different calibers.
