The Vz52 is a Czechoslovakian semi-automatic rifle developed in the early 1950s. Initially chambered in 7.62x45mm, the Vz52 was designed as an infantry rifle for the Czechoslovakian military. It featured a gas-operated mechanism and a tilting bolt design, which was innovative for its time. The rifle was later rechambered in 7.62x39mm to align with Warsaw Pact ammunition standards and became the Vz52/57.

The Vz52 saw limited service compared to its contemporaries, as it was quickly replaced by the Vz58 in Czechoslovakian military service. However, it was noted for its accuracy and rugged construction, making it a reliable weapon in various conditions. Its unique design elements, such as the integral folding bayonet and distinctive appearance, set it apart from other rifles of the era.

Though it was short-lived as a standard-issue weapon, the Vz52 remains a collector's item and is valued for its historical significance and unique engineering. Its transition to the Vz58 and the subsequent development of Czechoslovakian firearms highlight its role in the evolution of military rifles during the Cold War.
