The Swiss Lmg 25 (Leichtes Maschinengewehr Modell 1925) was a light machine gun developed by Waffenfabrik Bern in the mid-1920s. It was designed as a squad support weapon for the Swiss Army, featuring a gas-operated action and chambered for the 7.5x55mm Swiss cartridge. The Lmg 25 was fed from a 30-round box magazine and had a distinctive top-mounted feed system, allowing for ease of reloading while in a prone position. The weapon featured a robust, high-quality construction, with a bipod for stability and a relatively low rate of fire, enhancing accuracy and control.

Production of the Lmg 25 began in 1925 and continued through the 1930s, with several thousand units manufactured for the Swiss military. Despite being designed in an era when many nations were shifting toward belt-fed machine guns, the Lmg 25 remained a magazine-fed weapon, a characteristic in line with Swiss military doctrine emphasizing precision fire over suppressive fire. The Lmg 25 served as the standard light machine gun of the Swiss Army until it was gradually replaced by more modern designs, such as the SIG MG 51 in the post-World War II period.

The Lmg 25 gained a reputation for its exceptional craftsmanship and reliability, traits common to Swiss-made firearms. Though it was never widely exported, it remained a critical component of Swiss military defense strategy, reflecting Switzerland's focus on well-equipped and well-trained defensive forces. Today, the Lmg 25 is considered a collector's piece, valued for its precision engineering and historical significance in Swiss firearms development. It remains a notable example of interwar light machine gun design, showcasing Swiss innovation in small arms manufacturing.
