The 9M133M Kornet-M is an advanced anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) system developed by Russia as an upgraded version of the original Kornet. Designed by the KBP Instrument Design Bureau, the Kornet-M features improved guidance, extended range, and increased armor penetration capabilities. It employs a semi-automatic laser beam riding guidance system and is capable of engaging both heavily armored vehicles and fortified positions. The missile is equipped with a tandem-charge HEAT (High-Explosive Anti-Tank) warhead, designed to defeat explosive reactive armor (ERA), as well as a thermobaric warhead option for use against infantry and structures.

Production of the Kornet-M began in the early 2010s, with the system being fielded by the Russian military and exported to various countries. The missile has a maximum range of up to 10 kilometers when launched from a vehicle-mounted system and around 8 kilometers when launched from a tripod. The Kornet-M has been integrated into multiple platforms, including armored vehicles, light tactical vehicles, and even remote-controlled turret systems, enhancing its battlefield versatility. Its increased accuracy and firepower make it one of the most effective long-range ATGMs in modern warfare.

The Kornet-M has gained notoriety due to its use in various conflicts, including in the Middle East and Ukraine, where it has been employed against tanks, armored vehicles, and fortified positions. Its ability to defeat modern main battle tanks, including those equipped with advanced composite and reactive armor, has made it a formidable threat on the battlefield. The system's relatively low cost compared to Western counterparts, combined with its effectiveness, has led to its widespread adoption. Today, the Kornet-M remains a key asset in modern asymmetric warfare and a critical component of Russian and allied armed forces' anti-armor capabilities.
